Charly Boy writes open apology letter to his daughter

Charley Boy, aka Area Fada, has written an open letter to apologize to his daughter for the way he treated her after she came out as a lesbian.

Recall that Charly Boy shared a post last week, saying he’s proud to have a lesbian daughter and he supports her completely. But his daughter, Dewy Oputa hit back, stating that her father doesn’t pick her calls and she was rendered homeless after she publicised her sexuality. She accused her father of using her to chase clout as father of the year online, while caring nothing about her in real life.

Charly Boy responded. He said he was amused by his daughter’s public condemnation because it’s the same way he and his father – former Supreme Court justice Chukwudifu Oputa – butted heads before he gained his independent.

“Lion no fit born goat, ” he added.

He asked Dewy to forgive him and promised to allow her tell her story and to respect her perspectives.

He wrote:

My Dear Dewy,

I know the last few days may have been tough for you flowing from my Friday post
“For Parents Only” on my Instagram.

I apologize if my post rubbed you the wrong way, for this I am deeply sorry, my bad.
Forgive me.

But Honestly,
I was talking to parents trying to get them to understand that they-can only give good advice or put their children on the right paths, but the final forming of a person’s character lies in their own hands.

I came into parenting the way most of us did — knowing nothing but trying to learn everything, becos, who no go no fit know.
The journey of parenthood is an emotional roller-coaster, filled with happiness, sadness, worries, frustration, pride, excitement and much more. Parenting is an amazing adventure.

When people dey yab me say you dey tackle me for social media, I just dey laff.
I dey laff bcos Na so I tackle my papa before I collect my independence. Lion no fit born goat. Never forget that the Oputa’s are very special people, and in you I see me.

Since Saturday morning I have received thousands of phone calls from parents and young people who feel disconnected with their parents. Their testimony has been quite insightful.
I was only able to offer a listening ear and soothing words, but I feel taller because our story inspired thousands.
That’s a good thing.

My darling, I promise to allow you tell your story like I have been able to tell mine. I respect your perspectives and I understand. I brought you all up as Global Kids and not as timid village champions.

Let’s just go back to the friendship we have been working on.
I love you and no one can contest, not even you.

My Charly Girl
Princess Dewy
Daddy’s Totori

“The PDP is the best friend Nigeria could have” – Atiku

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has described PDP as the best friend Nigeria could have.

Atiku stated this on his Twitter handle today, Monday 16 November, 2020.

He tweeted:

”The Peoples Democratic Party is the best friend Nigeria could have. All geopolitical zones deserve a political party that believes in Nigeria and not a party that believes otherwise.

The @OfficialPDPNig has much to offer all parts of Nigeria, and I urge all Nigerians in all zones to keep faith with a party that has kept faith with Nigeria and will be equitable to all.”

The Church leader who shared the testimony while preaching in his church, said his spiritual son got the directive from “God” to go to France after getting a prophecy from a church in the European country.

He disclosed that the man was asked to go to an airport in Germany and also join a queue of those whose documents were being processed for a flight to France.

However before it got to his turn, Apostle Suleman said “God” directed his spiritual son to go to the toilet. While in the toilet, “God” asked him to pray and speak in tongues. Upon opening his eyes, he saw himself in the toilet of an airport in France.

Bank Verification Number: what you need to know

Bank Verification Number (BVN) is an 11-digits unique identification number which acts as a universal ID, issued to every bank customer and linked to every bank account that the customer has in any commercial bank in Nigeria.

The BVN was launched by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on February 14, 2014 in collaboration with the Banker’s Committee as a centralized biometric identification system for the Nigerian banking industry.

Purpose of BVN
1. The primary aim of creating the unique identification number for bank customers is to stem the increasing case of identity fraud in the banking industry.

2. To use BVN information as a means of identifying and verifying all individuals that have account(s) in any Nigerian bank and as a means of authenticating customer’s identity at the point of transactions.

3. To provide a uniform industrially accepted unique identity for Bank Customers.

4. To authenticate transactions without the use of cards using only biometric features and PIN

5. To identify blacklisted customers.

In other to ensure increased enrolment of bank customers, the bankers committee in its 11th retreat held in December 2018, classified BVN into 2 categories, the BVN Premium and BVN Lite.

The BVN Premium covers bank customers that can provide the 18 basic requirements for a complete BVN enrolment while the BVN Lite will require minimal documentations like name and phone number for bank customers, especially those at the rural areas that do not meet the full requirements.

There are over 42.4 million customers that have been registered on the BVN platform since inception.

The CBN however promised to increase the number of registered bank customers to 100 million by 2024.

Benefits of BVN
1. BVN provides a unique identification that can be verified by all financial institutions.

2. It protects the bank account of customers from unauthorized access.

3. It addresses the issue of identity theft, thus reducing exposure to fraud.

4. The BVN enhances the Banking Industry chances of being able to fish out blacklisted customers.

5. Standardised efficiency of Banking operations.

Risks in disclosing your BVN?
There have been reservations among bank customers about BVN fraud, how fraudsters can use a bank customer’s BVN to steal funds in the bank account of such customer.

Nigerian Bankers say disclosing your BVN to any person or group does not pose any threat to the funds in your bank account. However, there is the need to protect and preserve your vital information, including your BVN. Use it only when necessary.
