Covid-19: 152 new cases recorded in Nigeria

152 new cases of Coronavirus were confirmed in Nigeria on Tuesday November 10, as reported by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

A breakdown of the new cases is as follows: Lagos-93, FCT-21, Oyo-15, Rivers-11, Bauchi-7, Kwara-2, Bayelsa-1, Edo-1, and Plateau-1.

As at Tuesday, November 10, 64,336 confirmed cases of Coronavirus has been reported in the country and 1,160 deaths have been recorded. 60,333 patients who recovered from the disease have also been discharged.

Saudi Arabia bans underage marriages

The Saudi Arabia Ministry of Justice has set 18 years as minimum age for marriage and banned the marriage of persons under 18 years. The Minister of Justice and Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council, Sheikh Walid Al-Samaani, issued the new directive through a circular sent to all the courts in The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Child marriages are commonplace in Saudi Arabia with one in seven girls marrying before the age of 18. According to the Justice Ministry ruling, any teenager below the age of 18 will from now on be referred to specialized courts that will assess whether they can get married or not. These courts’ job is to study each child marriage case to confirm that the future spouse who’s under 18 years old, boy or girl, will not be harmed as a result of this wedding and that this union will be of the best interest to the youngster.
