President Trump on Friday stated that the new CDC guidelines will classify houses of worship as “essential,” as he called on governors to allow them to open in his words, “right now.” Trump announced the policy for churches, synagogues and mosques, during a briefing at the White House. “If they don’t do it, I will override the governors. In America, we need more prayer, not less,” he warned. COVID-19: Places of worship in Abuja to remain closed – FCT Minister

Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, Minister of the FCT, has said that places of worship in the FCT remain shut based on advice from medical experts and guidelines from the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19. Recall that churches and mosques have been shut down for the past two months as part of measures to check the spread of COVID-19. Malam Bello, who held a meeting with representatives of the FCT Christian and Muslim communities led by the FCT Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Chairman, Dr. Samson Jonah, and the FCT League of Imams Initiative (FLII), Dr. Tajudeen Mohammed Bello Adigun, explained that medical experts and the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 had directed that all measures approved two weeks earlier be extended for another two weeks. Nigeria records 339 new cases of COVID-19 and 9 deaths in one day

The Nigeria Centre of Disease (NCDC) has reported that 339 new confirmed cases of coronavirus and 9 deaths were recorded in Nigeria on Thursday, May 21. Out of the 339 new cases which were reported from 18 states, Lagos has 139, 28 in Kano 28 in Oyo, 25 in Edo, 22 in Katsina, 18 in Kaduna, 14 in Jigawa, 13 in Yobe, 13 in Plateau, 11 in FCT, 8 in Gombe, 5 in Ogun, 4 in Bauchi, 4 in Nasarawa, 3 in Delta, 2 in Ondo, 1 in Rivers, and 1 in Adamawa. According to the NCDC, no new state has reported a case in the last 24 hours. As at Thursday, May 21, 7016 cases have been confirmed, 1907 cases have been discharged and 211 deaths have been recorded in 34 states and the Federal Capital Territory. “I can kill you” – Man threatens wife’s lover (video)

A video making the rounds on social media captured a man unleashing terror on a man and his wife after he caught them in a hotel room. According to reports, the lady went to a hotel with her lover, and the husband arrived after a few minutes to nab them. Apparently he was informed by someone that his wife was in the hotel. Yobe State Chief Judge, Justice Nabaruma is dead

Justice Musa Nabaruma, the Chief Judge of Yobe State is dead. According to reports from Channels Television, a family member, Hussaini Nabaruma confirmed the death of the Chief Judge on Tuesday May 19.  Nabaruma who served as the Chief Judge of Yobe for about nine years (the longest in the state), died on Monday night after a protracted illness at the National Hospital in Abuja.  He was appointed as the Chief Judge of Yobe state in 2011 by the immediate past governor of the state, Ibrahim Gaidam.
