Husband in police net for cutting off his wife’s hand

A 22-year-old man, identified as Ba’ari Bacha has been arrested by Yobe State police command for severing his wife’s hand.

Channels Tv reported that the incident happened at Kasaisa community in Damaturu Local Government Area of Yobe State.

According to reports, trouble started when the wife, Halima Bulama asked her husband for permission to attend a family member’s wedding ceremony but the husband declined.

Halima however decided to attend the wedding against her husband’s permission. Bacha on returning home, found out that his wife had left for the wedding, an action which infuriated him.

He left for her father’s house to report the matter and met his wife in the house, and in anger brought out a machete and cut off her hand in the presence of her parents.

The matter was reported to the police who got Bacha arrested.

The Yobe police Spokesman, ASP Dungus Abdulkarim who spoke to Channels Tv confirmed the incident and vowed that justice will be done.

Bacha, father of three who regretted his action, said his wife is fond of disobeying him, claiming that it was anger that made him commit the crime.

“I committed the crime because of my wife’s disobedience to marital ethics. She has been travelling without my permission. I did this out of anger, I regret my action,” Bacha said.

Halima is currently receiving treatment at Yobe State Teaching Hospital in Damaturu, the state capital.
