Covid-19: 350 cases reported in Nigeria

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has reported 350 new cases of Covid-19 in Nigeria.

According to NCDC, 102 of the cases were recorded in Lagos, 34 in Ogun, 29 in Abuja FCT, 26 in Borno, 23 in Kaduna, 21 in Rivers, 17 in Ebonyi, 16 in Kwara, 14 in Katsina, 10 in Edo, 10 in Delta, 10 in Kano, 10 in Bauchi, 9 in Bayelsa, 8 in Imo, 4 in Plateau, 3 in Ondo, 2 in Nasarawa, 1 in Gombe, 1 in Oyo.

Saudi Arabia bans underage marriages

The Saudi Arabia Ministry of Justice has set 18 years as minimum age for marriage and banned the marriage of persons under 18 years. The Minister of Justice and Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council, Sheikh Walid Al-Samaani, issued the new directive through a circular sent to all the courts in The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Child marriages are commonplace in Saudi Arabia with one in seven girls marrying before the age of 18. According to the Justice Ministry ruling, any teenager below the age of 18 will from now on be referred to specialized courts that will assess whether they can get married or not. These courts’ job is to study each child marriage case to confirm that the future spouse who’s under 18 years old, boy or girl, will not be harmed as a result of this wedding and that this union will be of the best interest to the youngster.
